A Monday with a Plan

Monday came too quickly this week...way too quickly.  This weekend was absolutly beautiful and full of cleaning up the yard.  I filled 15 lawn bags and 2 trash cans full of leaves, weeds, and dead plants.  And we still have some clearing out to do before we have a starting point.  Nevertheless, I'm so excited to begin landscaping and planting this year!  I am all over the board with what kind of plants and what colors...hence why we've lived here almost 2 years and have yet to landscape.  So I've decided I need to force myself to begin making a decision and am giving myself 2 weeks to create a plan.  By March 14th I will have some plans to share.  I'm very excited about getting started...wish us luck!

Oh and the guestroom is finally painted!  Yay...unfortunately it's dark and rainy tonight so I won't have photos to share until later this week, but I can't wait to share.

A Thursday Devotion

A brief lenten devotion from my mother including verses from Matthew 27:45-54.

{  "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

How many times have we read or even experienced situations when we wondered, "Where is God?" Why did God let this happen?....accidents, innocent children killed, tragic diseases, lives changed in a minute.

As life goes on and as tragedy enters into human experience, there come times when we feel that God has forgotten us. We can be immersed in a situation beyond our understanding and feel bereft even of God. It seems that this is what happened to Jesus on the cross. Here even Jesus goes to the uttermost depths of the human situation, so that there is not a place that we might go where he has not been also. At this point he feels more human to me than at any other time.

But Jesus did not end with this cry, but with the great shout, "It is finished". It is with the cry of the man who has completed his task, who has come out of the dark into the light, who has grasped the crown, a shout of triumph. The victor is the man who has been beaten to the depths and still holds on to God and his faith for that is what Jesus did.

"At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom......and the tombs broke open."

Up to this time God had been hidden and remote, and no man knew what he was like . But in the death of Jesus we see the hidden love of God, and the way to the presence of God once barred to all men is now opened to all men. The life and the death of Jesus show us what God is like and remove for ever the veil which hid him from men.

Because of his life, his death and his resurrection, the tomb has lost its power, and grave has lost its terror, and death has lost its tragedy. For we are certain that because he lives we shall live also. }

God is good.  Thanks for letting me share mama.

Our Saturday at the Market

Photos from our day at the Dekalb Farmers Market.  There were small aisles and aisles of interesting and unique fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, beer, wine, live/fresh fish, meats, and organic dairy.

Sorry the pics are the best, I wasn't prepared for a full blown photo shoot.  If you are in the Atlanta area and a food lover you have to check it out.  I wish I had some of pics of the cheese but I guess I was too busy picking them out for our home.

Whew

I'm breathing a bit easier tonight.  This was first work day in that wasn't 10+ hours in quite some time.

Eventhough we it's been a very long couple of weeks I do have news to report...very exciting news!  After a year and half we are now the owners and users of a microwave!!!  Can you believe it...I have lived and not starved for over a year without a microwave.  Thank you Daddy!

Now all I want is a full rehaul on the kitchen with subway tile, all new stainless applainces and cabinet fronts.  Gas range and microwave are next on the list and hopefully coming this year.  I'm envisioning something similar to these...

Patio Fever

I really can not wait to enjoy a glass of wine or perhaps a margarita on the back porch this summer.  This will be summer #2 in our bungalow and we have yet to find patio furniture that we approve of.  I'm making it my mission this spring to find something great.  A few of the top runners thus far...

Actually not a patio set but I wish it was....sigh....wouldn't this be beautiful in a Tuscan garden.

I love the clean lines of wood and don't want to have to worry about cushions....very low maintenance please!

And some pretty inspiration with lofty goals never hurts...

Dreaming of Spring

Happy Monday!

Although it was relatively warm this weekend...the weather out look is not promising.  I do love have 4 season I just wish the winter section would only last 4 to 6 weeks.  I've recently decided that I truly miss my time in Florida and realize I could potential be ok living there.  All I can look at is patio furniture, flowers, sunny vacations, sundresses, and sandals.  This week I'll share my favorite finds and inspirations.
I love the raw fireplace and relaxed feel of this pad...and I'm strangely in love with the 4 pairs of old man eyes.  I picture this as a swanky guest house in LA.

I want to go by and test out this couch.  I'm a big fan of comfort and I'm not convinced this will be comfortable....what do you think?

Not typically a fan of mixing of white and black furniture but I like this contemporary look with classic shapes.

I love the extended mantel with the antique brackets.

I love the look of the dark walls with the white trim for a porch.

Soo Fresh and Soo Clean Clean.

 I want the blue chair!

This Week's News

Sorry I’ve been a little MIA this week. I was my first full week back at work in quite some time and a rainy one at that. Frankly I haven’t had much inspiration or anything interesting to share. This week…

I got to catch up with my JL girls over pizza.

2 of my favorite shows The Good Wife and Grey’s were both new as well as my new favorite Off the Map! Very exciting.

This week I found out about the Lingerie Mart distribution center here in the Atlanta area. Bra’s starting at $6!! I plan to check this out this weekend. One of the few things I miss about Asheville is the JCrew distribution center store! Wow that place was great.

New Recipe of the week: Stovetop Chicken Pot Pie from February’s Souther Livingand I have to say it was very good and SUPER easy. It will definitely be going into the rotation.

I’m excited about a girl’s movie night tonight and a weekend full of painting.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
