and I'm so excited!!

I get to spend a weekend with my man at home well mostly at home.  We have a little date night action tonight...at the fair or to check out 'Money Ball' haven't decided yet which one we are in the mood for.  But it's an early morning and we are headed to Athens to watch our bulldogs.

I've been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time!  After this weekend the NYC count-down will begin...WOOOOHOOO!  Hope you all have a great weekend....Let's go State!

What a Weekend

So it may not sound exciting to you but I had a very productive weekend.

I have started the laundry room project and found some additional storage and the Mr. and I have a plan for the bathroom and I'm pretty pumped to get started

Finally saw ‘The Help’ wonderful movie!

Completed my first sewing project, a dust ruffle and you can no longer see all of the storage under our bed. I felt very primitive to be working on my sewing machine while the Mr. was sawing and nailing together some box for his beer making contraption.

Last week I came to the realization we are leaving for NYC in 2 weeks and the only weekend between now and then is booked, YAY! So…I went ahead and pulled out the fall/winter clothes and did a little shopping. I’m pretty excited for my new wardrobe finds and about finishing up a little planning to maximize our time.

I'm have some pics uploaded later this week.
It’s pretty amazing how a productive weekend can put a little pep in your step on a Monday morning.

Fall Bucket List

I found an awesome new read by Katie at Loves of Life and a few weeks back she shared a super cute Fall Bucket List…what a great idea. So in honor of the first day of Fall, our fall bucket list goes a little like this…

A day trip up to North Georgia for Apple Picking

Visit the High Museum for the Picasso to Warhol exhibit

Fall Picnic Fall Picnic
When we lived in Asheville we were frequent picnicers and that is one thing I do miss.

Take a stroll through Central Park with a pumpkin latte to look at the fall colors and NYC skyline

Take Hendrix to the pumpkin patch for a couple of photo ops and to help pick out our pumpkin. -

Finish revamping the laundry room.

Get a family Christmas card photo if we can get a decent one or just super cute card.

Cut down the perfect Christmas Tree before December 1st and finishing purchasing/making all Christmas gifts

So it kind of turned into a fall ‘to-do’ list…surprise surprise. Regardless I’m looking forward to checking off each and every item on our first fall bucket list!

Herbs in the Laundry Room

I think our thumbs have become greener more green this summer. Look how our herbs have grown!

So next question is what to do with them when the chill creeps in? Well I have a few ideas up my sweater. I found this lovely room on pinterest...

I might just try to install some of the handy window shelves. I have my fabulous daddy booked to do a little handy work in here as a birthday present, can’t wait to share the after pic.

Obviously I won’t be able to transplant all of the herbs into small pots for the winter so here are my plans for the rest.

The trailing rosemary will be transplanted in the front yard’s new bed.
Most of the basil will be turned into pesto and frozen.
The rest of the basil be chopped and put into ice cubes for some fall cocktails.
Small portions of the thyme, oregano, lavender, parsley, fennel, and lemongrass will be moved to small pots for the winter.
Most of the thyme, oregano, and lavender will be dried. I might even try to make some sort of rub or seasoning to give as Christmas gift.

Weekend Recap

It was a pretty amazing weekend.  Despite failing pretty much all of my weekend wishes I have zero complaints.

I had a great weekend with my family down in Tally for my very first college gameday.  My Seminoles may have lost but I'm proud of their performance.

On our way home through the fields of south Georgia we pulled over to pick some cotton.  The Mr. has plans to plan some cotton next year....what he is going to do with the cotton I'm not sure.

Monday I came home from work to a beautiful burning birthday cake made from scratch with all of my favorite things, flowers, my Mr. and our little furry son.

Followed by an amazing dinner at Ecco complete with champagne and the most amazing ice cream ever...olive oil, sea salt, chocolate, and pecorino....yum!

I could not have asked for a more perfect day.  Thanks Mr. I love you!

Dancing in the Rain

It's a very gray and rainy hump day, makes me crave a cup of tea, the sofa, and little pinterest.

Weekend Recap

It was another great weekend.  College football has begun and I was there to witness the first FSU win of the season.  I got to see my brother's dorm room...definitely a boy room.  He is taking advantage of the opportunity to be messy.

It started raining Sunday afternoon and hasn't stopped.  We need the rain so badly I can't complain.  It was nice to enjoy a rainy Labor Day with the Mr.  We went down to square and enjoyed some lunch at Sugar Cakes, best Croque Monsieur.  We did a little shopping and went to see a matinee of Horrible Bosses, so funny definitely would recommend.
Did the weekly grocery shopping which with the Mr. took twice as long as usual.  Came home and worked on cleaning up the dining room.  Last weekend I brought home a new dresser from an antique store that was closing, we are going to use in our dinning room.  It has made quite a difference and provide a ton of extra storage.

September and Football

I love this month! So many wonderful things happening.

Tonight is day #1 of college football and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for another great year of Seminole football.  And good luck to my other team Miss State tonight!

It’s my birthday this month!

And the first day of fall, always a little bittersweet
