A Day Late but Not Short

Sorry I'm a bit behind on my weekend recap but here it is....
It was a very productive weekend in our bungalow and we even got in a couple of movies.

Mama and I successfully walked 7 miles on Saturday. We waited a bit too late in the afternoon and it was much more difficult than I anticipated…but I wasn’t sore Sunday! We enjoyed a trip to Ikea, Ballard Backroom, and of course another fabric store. I’m forcing the Mr. to give me his opinion and the I’m getting it all done and ordered this weekend!

Sunday I cleaned the bungalow from top to bottom and did a couple hundred loads of laundry. I suppose it has been 2 to 3 weeks now that we have had our air purifiers. I LOVE them! They make such a difference in dust, dog hair, and just make the house feel fresher (is that a word?). If you have a dog or a dust allergy and don’t have one you need to order today! We actually got ours because I put too much money into our FSA thinking I was going to get pregnant and well that didn’t happen. So the last week of December I was determined not to let it go down the drain so one little trip to the doctor and 12 hours later air purifiers were in the mail. We got these 2…

Honeywell 50250 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier - for the living room, a bit large and noisy but love it!

It's award season and in the last 5 days have had 3 great ones!

All a little depressing but great movies, I recommend.

It's another busy week with at the bungalow hope everyone has a great week!

Friday Coffee

It’s Friday and I need Coffee!  It’s another full weekend.

Tonight, I am getting my hair cut this evening and then have a bottle of wine waiting for me.
Lots of errands to run, a long long walk with my mama, laundry and working on a few things for the living room.

Sunday is the Mr.’s company manager party at Kevin Rathbun Steak
I’m looking forward to a juicy steak.

Happy Weekend!

Thursday Thoughts

I'm feeling very random...

I don't want to rush the year but I keep thinking that it is February.  This warm January weather feels amazing I can't believe it's winter.  I kind of scares me a bit...knock on wood...but I really hope Spring comes early.

I know the holidays were just a few weeks ago and I was out of town last weekend but I'm ready for another break.  I looking at taking a short weekend trip to do a little bit of nothing.
Also on the working agenda planning a little girls trip with my sis and mama.

So I really want a new look for twenty twelve but there are so many options out there.  I would love a custom look but clearly I do this as a hobby and don’t want to spend a lot of money.  I am definitely web design challenged and can not do it myself.  Do anyone have any suggestions?

Summerlight terry sweatpant
I'm in search of some comfy but cute lounge wear.  I think I'm going to break down this weekend and make some online jcrew and gap body purchases.

Sorry for the random thoughts but that's all I've got to share today.
Happy Friday Eve!

I've Returned and Now to Catch Up!

Sorry for the delay. I was out of town over the weekend to visit my this guy…

It was the anniversary of my Grandma’s passing but it seems like it was last week. She was the most wonderful lady and I miss her tons but I know she’s makes a beautiful angel. We had a great weekend. Sorry not pics to share.

I’ve been crazy busy with work and chores around the house. I’ll not quite share the progress of our living room and now that I’ve listed it all out we have a long way to go but we have a plan.
We still need to...
- recover chair - planned for this weekend
- ottoman coffee table
- round pedestal side table for between the 2 chairs
- new throw and pillows
- get rid of picture ledges and get large piece of art. I have a few ideas brewing.

Our way home yesterday we had to stop by the Pottery Barn Outlet in Gaffney, SC.
Linen Hemstitch Tablecloth

I scored a couple of great items. I got 1 red and 1 ivory linen hemsitch table clothes at 60% off and a beautiful tray for the future ottoman coffee table. I’m super pumped and can’t wait for this weekend to start crossing off a few items.

Tonight I tried a new receipe from Mini Manor blog Potato Leek Soup.
So easy and tasty.

1 small yellow onion

1 large Leek or 2 small ones
1 box chicken stock
1 small brown potato
1/8 tsp Dried Thyme
salt and pepper

First dice the onion. Slice up the white part of the Leek and wash well.
Put a tbsp of oil in a pot and fry up the onions and Leeks, about 5 min.
Add Thyme. Stir.
Add box of Stock.
Dice Potato. Add to pot.

Boil soup until potatoes are done, don't worry if they get overcooked.  Add salt and pepper to taste .  Recipe says to throw it all into a food processor and pulse until desired consistency.  I didn't I ate it as a broth soup and because I was didn't feel like getting the processer out and it was great!

Really?!?

pinmarket via pinterest

Is it really Wednesday already! This weekend and week have been flying by.

I had a fortune cookie the other night that said ‘Good things will come in time, be patient’. I’m not always good at that and frankly I think sometimes you shouldn’t wait. But…for now I will practice patience. Apparently my patience has been causing time to speed up.

We had a great 3 day weekend, didn’t get very much done but it was nice.

We are not the proud owners and lovers of a leather recliner…seriously potentially the best purchase we have ever made. We have to trade off nights on reclining.

I spend Saturday and Sunday with my mama shopping for fabric and little clothing shopping excursion at the outlet malls. Found a great Ann Taylor suit for $50! I’m serious both pieces skirt and jacket for $50. I’m very pleased. We did take one break Saturday afternoon to watch this….
Very exciting win for us (aka FSU)!  So jealous my sister and brother were there.

Then Monday was proclaimed as PJ day. It was dark and glooming and I was feeling a bit under the weather so the Mr. took great care of me. We didn’t get out of our PJ’s until 6pm and we were hungry and didn’t want to cook. Lol wow we were lazy but I was fabulous!

Promise to share pics tomorrow of the half way done living room.
Happy Hump Day.

End of the Work Week!

It’s Friday, It’s Friday, It’s Friday!!! There is a dance party in my head right now, but my hips are too sore from yoga last night to even think about actually dancing.

I’m so excited it’s been a long week and the first 5 day work week since the beginning of December! I’m looking forward to a 3 day weekend with lots of plans.

Tonight is a little date night with the parents and picking up our new recliner! I can’t wait, slowly but surely the living room is coming together.
Tomorrow will be some fabric shopping and half marathon practice with my mama.
Sunday is a little yard work and lots of errands to run.
Monday is Funday with the Mr. A couple of projects and little date night action!

Wow, I’m getting old when I look at my list of projects and look forward to fabric shopping and yard work. Nevertheless I’m pumped! I might even be ready with pictures next week.

Anyone else have exciting plans for the holiday weekend?

What a difference a year makes!

I can’t help but remember the weather we had around this time last year. We were all boarded up in a snow storm…well mostly ice. Down south with any sign of snow or ice the city shuts down. Nevertheless it was a surprisingly nice little break. Last year I was still in my boot and on some nice pain killers after my bunion surgery. So I didn’t get to fully play in the snow.

This year the weather is sticking to around mid 50’s to 60’s and I am fully healed. I am not going to complain. I quite enjoy being able to get outdoors in January without bundling up. Over the weekend the Mr. and I enough went out to the mountain with Hendrix to enjoy the nice weather. I wish I had taken my camera along. Hendrix loves to play in a creek, he had a ball.

Monday Randoms

Holy Smokes it was not fun getting up this morning. It was an amazing, lazy weekend. We enjoyed some couch time and some good food. It was so nice to enjoy a couple of days with the Mr. and no agenda.

I finally saw the Secretariat and cried like a baby.

We went to the Atlanta Underground Market Saturday night….not so underground. WAY TOO many people and it was way too crowded to really enjoy but we did get a few tasty things.
Sunday was a perfect rainy day, went to church in the morning, made chili, and hung out on the couch all day.

We did mange to check out the nursery and come up with a plan for the front yard. Now we just have to decide if we want to fork over the extra dollars for the more mature plants. I’m trying to be more focused on my home projects this year but the living room is still on track just waiting on a deliveries. So I’m working on 2 this month. Hopefully both will be by the end of the month. Here’s a sneak peek of what we are thinking about…

First full 5 day week of work in several weeks, happy Monday everyone!

Friday Randoms

It has been an amazing little week. The Mr. has been off work and it’s been wonderful coming home to both of my men each day.

As you know we have our new sofa in place! Woohoo. The old sofas have been sent off to the consignment store. This week we also purchase a beautiful leather recliner. It’s was a pretty penny but it’s an investment…right. Hopefully we will have this bad boy till twenty forty unfortunately we won’t get it until the end of the month. The living room is coming together slowly but surely. I’ll do a full post when it is completed hopefully before February.
Last night I also got to cross a pretty exciting thing off my bucket list. Over Christmas we came close to shooting some guns off at my Grandaddy’s farm. Unfortunately there were some hunters hunting and my Grandaddy didn’t want us to disturb them….lame I know but he’s the boss. Anyways…last night the Mr. and I ventured out to find a gun range. I was so excited to find one like 5 miles from the house. However I have to say I did not find the thrill in shooting. It scares me to death. I did it and wasn’t really very bad at it but I’m not signing up for a gun club membership anytime soon. So men there had some really crazy guns and they were very scary. I wanted a smaller one and the Mr. informed me that anything less than the 22 revolver we had would have been a beebee gun. Oh well call me boring but I’m good with a pepper spray and some running shoes for self defense.

It’s Friday and the Mr. is off I have no idea what to do this is new for us. I’m looking forward to a weekend with my Mr…and perhaps a few cocktails! Cheers!

It's Okay Thursday...

Its Ok Thursdays

...that I have decided not to join the gym and purchase work out videos instead

…I’m 28 years old and am just now picking out and purchasing our own furniture…goodbye hand-me-downs! It’s so exciting!

…that we have had a week of winter weather and I’m ready for summertime.

…that sometimes I make things too complicated.  But this year I'v found this little piece of wisdom this week on Bippity Boppity Boo tumblr and I’m going to uncomplicate this easy stuff…

Better Late than Never

I’m a little late on my resolutions but I’ve been trying to find a few that I really can accomplish and I’ve finally narrowed it down.
  • Devote more time for designated Date Nights
  • Finish our front year bed
  • Visit a good friend in Pheonix
  • Cook for the Mr. more often and work out consistently. I’m not going to put a number of days a week, try and lose a percentage, I’m just going to try and be healthier in twenty twelve.
  • Send Birthday Cards. I did really bad at this last year and I promise to do better this year friends and family.

 Wish me luck!
Does anyone have any fun date ideas and delicious recipes?

Happy New Year

Despite the cold weather 2012 has brought us down in the south the new year is upon us and I’m back to work. Regardless I’m super pumped! It’s going to be a great year. We started the New Year out right with a nice quiet dinner and champagne. Thanksgiving with just the 2 of us was so lovely we decided to try it again for New Years. I know it’s not very exciting but it was a very peaceful way to start a New Year.

The Mr. and I have some great things to look forward to this year.

Traveling is one of our favorite things. While we don’t have anything planed in stone yet we do have a tentative July trip to Dominican Republic with friends this summer and possible one other little surprise trip is still in the works.

The Mr. will be in a couple of beer festivals this year which will be really exciting! I can’t wait to share his concoctions. We tried his pumpkin porter last night and it was really great!

We also have several little house projects planned for our bathroom, new bathroom, kitchen tile, and finally work on some landscaping.

Well it seems once again we have our hands full for another fun filled year.
