Weekend Recap.

I had a last minute trip to see my Grandparent’s over the weekend since it was my last free weekend before almost Christmas. It was great to spend some one on one time with them. My Mr. picked up at the airport and surprised me by actually parking and greeting me at baggage claim with flowers! After a few hours of sleep it’s back to work. This week I plan on going to the gym at least twice, cooking at least 3 nights, and trying one new recipe. Wish me luck and send your energy I’m going to need it!

Sidebar, my dad had a beer with Owen Wilson at this hole in the wall near our house. Apparently he is in town filming and has a girlfriend that lives around here somewhere and no one bothers him at this dive bar. I plan on staking it out this week some, I’ll keep you posted.

New Season

I've finally gotten around to decorating the front porch for Fall.

I think this is the largest pumpkin we have ever had.  Mr. and I are currently in a debate over whether to carve it or not.  I vote NO I want to keep it around for Thanksgiving.

Refocusing

My home projects have been a bit scattered the past couple of months to say the least…partly due to working too much and partly due to my exaggerated ambitions. This weekend I had a chance to catch up on some house work and refocus our plans.

Next up is to finish the master bedroom. To finish this up we need…

- hang new curtain rod
- bed side sconces – currently looking at these beauties at my favorite Pottery Barn

- bed side bookshelf – still searching, have opted to get rid of the current bedside tables because they do not provide enough storage for the square footage they consume.
- Rug – thinking about this cutie at JC Penny…I’m hesitate because I’ve never ever purchased anything from JC Penny and the reviews are not great thus I’m still on the lookout.

- Fireplace – looking for photo to show my daddy so he can complete this task.
- hang mirror over dresser

Now that I listed all of that, I might stop there as I’m getting a bit overwhelmed. You never realize how much you have to do until you write it out…eeekk.

Cheers

I wish I could say I'm ready for the fall cocktails but it is still a bit warm for a hot toddy's.  Since our home is full of apples and apples are on the mind I'm looking forward to a refreshing apple cocktail at 5pm!

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 parts Bacardi Big Apple Rum
- 12 fresh spearmint leaves
- 1/2 lime
- 7 parts club soda
- 2 tsp. simple syrup or 4 tsp. sugar
- mint sprigs for garnish

Crush mint leaves and lime in a tall glass. Cover with simple syrup and fill glass with ice. Add rum and club soda, stir well.

After my 5pm cocktail my mom and I will be headed to see some Chinese Acrobats!

Apples!

This past weekend we enjoyed a very warm fall day at Mercier Orchards in North Georgia.  It is a family run farm with 'u pick' fruits including cherries, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and of course apples!  They have a great shop with anything and everything apple related as well as miscellaneous sauces, dips, dressings, etc.  After a little shopping we took a hayride up to the orchard to pick a full peck of apples.  It was so much fun to pick an apple right off the tree and bite into it!

If you are ever in the Blue Ridge area I would definitely recommend this Orchard.  I hear they have a very cute haunted hayride starting this week.
