Coffee Thoughts

Happy Monday!

Had to share this wonderful little pinterest inspiration I found!  Yes I printed this for my bathroom mirror.

Anywhoo….my relaxing April is winding down. I didn’t do too much and it was a very nice little break. My calendar and to do list are starting to fill up again.

We are in full planning mode for a couple of little summer trips…so exciting! Summer weather has returned and I do not mind one bit!

I feel like the summer is always a great time to start over. School is out (yes I am not in school) but it’s still a great feeling. We have some really exciting things happening and I looking forward to what the next few months will reveal.

Make it a great week!

Friday Morning

I swear it has felt like a Friday for the last 3 days! It’s been a loooong week. A few fun things to report…

I almost started my Photography Class last night….however the instructor was a ‘no-show’ so the class will need to be rescheduled.
The Mr. took down our sliding shower door! Very exciting we have a new curved rod and I love it! We have wanted to do this for awhile and finally pulled the trigger. Pictures to come soon promise.
After a week long dose of steroids my poison oak is almost complete cleared up!

On the agenda for the weekend:

A little yoga + food festival
Facial – yes!! Check another item off my 30!
Shopping for and sewing a shower curtain
My little bro returns home after his 1st year of college! So excited to have him back.
And then some cleaning for some mid-week company.

Summer weather is here and I love it!! Happy Weekend!!

My List: 30 Before 30

I have roughly a year and a half before I hit the big 3-0. At the beginning of 2012 I decided I would create a little bucket list to complete before I leave my 20’s. I’ve tried to make it obtainable and fun. Since I have beginning to cross off one of items I decided I would reveal my first little section. Let me warn you some are very silly, few very important personal items, and some totally random things I’ve always kind of wanted to do and am going to (in the words of Nike) ‘just do it’.

So….here are the 1st set of 10 in random order…

1. Bake bread from scratch

2. Get a facial - I know crazy I've never had one.  I'm frightened I might have a crazy reaction but I hear they are very refreshing so why not give it a shot.

3. Kick a field goal from 15 yards - yep that's right I'm going to do it!

4. Spend a 2 whole uninterupted days, 48 hours, with my husband and NO phones!

5. Take a photography class - I'm starting this one tonight!!  I'm taking a 6 week continue ed class at a local college.

6. Harvest honey from bees - I haven't figured out how I'm going to pull this off but I've always wanted to do it.

7. Shoot a rifle - I want to do this on my Grandaddy's farm.

8. Take a mother/daughter weekend, just us girls....hopefully very soon.

9. Host a formal dinner party

10. Master flipping an egg - The Mr. is going to put to work to help me with this one.

Wish me luck!  Some may be a bit challenging but I'm looking forward to checking a few things off my life list.

Please Don't

Please Don’t bring your children into the Worship Service. It’s a very big pet peeve of mine. This is an adult time to worship and hear the word. It’s very frustrating to be distracted by a child playing with toys on the ground, making faces, and baby talking. As a church we employ and pay certified child care professionals to take care of your children so that you and everyone else can worship. And for the older children you aren’t doing them any favors. Send them to Sunday School or Extended Care where they too can learn the gospel. Please stop disturbing me in my time to worship!!

Ok I'm sorry to be negative, that is my one rant for the week.

Now in happier news our azaleas have finally bloomed.
Better pictures to come later this week.

Only 11 Days Late

A little March recap...

The Mr. sadly didn't win the 'Brew your Cask Off' but we had a ton of fun.  My little sister and her beau were in town we enjoyed lunch with them and a tour of new local brewery Red Hare before the main weekend event.  Both of our family's were able to attend and we all had a ton of fun.
 the Mr.'s keg

The competition handed out mustaches...it was very entertaining

Oh and the Seminoles WON the ACC!! My little sis and our friend who happens to be one of my followers came for the game!!!  He likes to really dress up for big games.
We finally got to plan our camillas and the front yard is coming along nicely.  We have started the overwhelming {very overwhelming} task of clearing  out some of the side yard.  It is full of weeds, random trees and bushes, and vines.  This will be a work in progress over the next several months.

More beer....we ventured to NOLA to visit good friends. We ate and drank our way though some spring time festivals for pork and beer. I made my Mr. a very happy this weekend.

Couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a candied bacon snow ball
My Mr. is such a good dancer!

pork rhine nachos!
finally made it to the beer part

Next weekend I accompanied my parents and grandaddy to Abingdon.  My grandmother has a farm there and fingers crossed in the very near future we will have a little mountain retreat!  We picked out some home pontienal sites and looked into getting all of the permits set up!
Next step finding a house plan to replace this old old house!

Tasty Tuesday + A Little Birthday to Celebrate!

It’s a delicious salad! 7 Layers of delicious salad!
Via sorry I didn't take a pic of mine, this is a random one from pinterest.

Ingredients
1 head of iceburg lettuce
1 cup celery
1 cup diced red onions
1 can of sliced water chestnuts
2 cups of peas – cooked, drained, and cooled
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Dressing ingredients:
1 pint mayo (use lowfat)
½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon sugar

Prep all ingratiates and mix all dressing ingredients together well. Then layer in order as listed with dressing on the top. Best with at least 2 full layers aka 14 layers!
Delicious, fun and pretty! You can even substitute layers you don’t like with others….for example bacon, tomatoes, eggs or carrots.

Check out the great receipes over at Tasty Tuesday on 33 Shades of Green.

In other news my little mama is celebrating her birthday today.
A few fun facts about my mama…..as a child she barrel raced horses, has pretty much complete converted from a hokie to a Seminole, and she loooooves chipmunks!
Happy Birthday Mama
She’s a model!

It was a very Happy Easter!

As most know the Mr. is a Chef. And with that Easter is one of their more popular brunch days. So the Mr. was up and gone by 5am Sunday. I sleep a bit more and woke up to a little surprise from the Easter Bunny…
A few of my favorite things!

I spent the day with my parents, aunt, and of course little Hendrix.

We had a great meal, did a lot of lounging, and looked over some house plans for our mountain retreat! Good day all around.

Hope everyone had a very Happy Easter!

Good Friday

Good Friday everyone!  I'm looking forward to joyous Easter weekend.  I've found some great things this week...Easter activities, decorations, and dishes!

New Nostalgia has some links for some great Good Friday/Easter activities for children.

I found the perfect print for April here for only $5.
We are having a very low key and thus a none traditional Easter dinner.  We will be having my Grandma's meatloaf, I'm making a 7 layer salad (can't wait to share the recipe...hope it turns out), my dad will undoubtably make a million sides, and a little strawberry dessert!
I can't wait till my siblings are out of school and we have a big Easter dinner and we have a table that looks like this!
a little easter brunch al fresco maybe in Abingdon

love these bunny centerpiece vases

Maybe next year.
