May 2015 a month to remember

May proved to be a difficult month.
Full of surprises and challenges.

The month started with an impromptu trip for Parker
to Virginia to visit her Great-Grandfather with Mimi
He was in the hospital recovering from a possible stroke.
I know Parker helped heal him.

The Mr. and I had a great get-a-way in Puerto Rico.

The Mr. started a new job/career at Whole Foods.
So excited for him and this new opportunity.
It's nice that he's getting back into a routine.

The Mr. somehow got a severe cornea scratch
After 1 urgent care visit
a couple hundred $$ of co-pays
5 visits to the eye doctor
and another couple hundred $$ of medication
Happy to report he's mostly healed.

Memorial Day
Now has a new meaning for us.
My veteran granddaddy said goodbye
George M. Davis, Jr.
After 25 years of Parkinson's he is now with his bride and our heavenly father.
It was truly an honor to be his granddaughter.
He was more accomplished and brave than I could ever imagine.
I can only hope I can be half the person he was.
I would like to share a very brief glimpse of his life.

Friday...I've been waiting

I don't think I've ever been more excited about a weekend ❤️

Every day this week has felt like Friday.
I've been a rough week back in reality.

Looking forward to a Friday night date!

Followed by hopefully a relaxing family weekend.
I'm too drained to have much more to share.

I'll be back on the wagon next week with fun things.

Cheers,
RW

Back at this Friday Five

We are back from
the most amazing Puerto Rican vacay!

The Mr. and I had a great trip.
Can't wait to share all the details.

It's always sad coming back to reality.
This time I was excited to be home and get back on a schedule.
And we missed sweet P so much!

I prefer coming back to work on a Friday.
Getting caught up, then an additional 2 days at home to recover, and start fresh and ready to run on a new Monday.

A restful family weekend is calling my name.
Our weekend will be full of family walks, swims, and naps.

Here are five peeks from my amazing week
via the handy iPhone.

Let's Play Kitchen

Yes, I'm breaking down and purchasing a play kitchen.

This past weekend we went to check out the Ikea option.
To much work to jazz up their version
like these Pinterest beauties...
mommo design: IKEA PLAY KITCHEN MAKEOVERS I need to do this when my two start treating there kitchen nicely!!!!

Ikea DUKTIG repainted. We have one for Lily and are planning on painting it too :D

If I had a kid, I'd try to replicate this DIY Play Kitchen @ www.preparingforpeanut.com
[1 / 2 / 3]

But I did pick up these adorable finds...
DUKTIG 5-piece cookware set IKEA Mini cookware for play. Made of durable material and stainless steel.DUKTIG 8-piece salmon set IKEA
LÅTSAS 11-piece shopping basket set IKEA

Love the idea of a DIY project but realistically
we just don't have the time right now.
So I've narrowed it down to these precious options...

Any suggestions or feedback welcome!

In Honor of Mexico

Cocktails on a Tuesday
Don't Mind if I do...

Since it is the Mexican Holiday
Cinco de Mayo
To commemorate the Mexican victory of the French Army
I plan to celebrate with a festive salted beverage here in America.

I'm not a fan of anything crazy.
Still to the basics.

3 Cup Friday

Displaying photo.JPG
It's a 3 cup kind of Friday.

We had our first night baby free last night.
We are so exciting that we were in bed by 9.

Excited for the weekend for so many reasons.

First, we are just getting even closer to our beach time.
After being gone for almost 10 years, I'm heading back to Vieques for fun this time :D

Second, it's a crazy exciting sports weekend....
Hawks tonight
Braves all weekend
Kentucky Derby - I haven't picked my horse yet
Fight Night
Possible Hawks Sunday
And finishing up the Draft
If only my husband knew how lucky he was that this is very exciting for me.

Third, baby free
I mean, really, 3 nights at home without our P
bittersweet but pretty excited to get a few things done.

I guess that's all of the exciting stuff.
The rest is my ever growing laundry list of to-do's
Surprisingly I'm looking forward to tackling them while we have some time.

Make sure to enjoy your mint julep tomorrow!
Sparkling Blackberry Mint Julep 1/2 cup blackberries 4 tablespoons mint leaves torn in half 2 Tbsp simple syrup 3 ounces bourbon Prosecco or other sparkling wine Mint sprigs and blackberries for garnish
Fun blackberry twist from Creative Culinary.

Cheers to a super fun weekend!

Thoughts for Thursday

Super excited to join a new-to-me link up today!

I haven't felt this scattered in a long time.
We have so much going on I feel like I'm just running in circles
and not getting much accomplished.

Please pray for this guy.
Displaying photo.JPG
He's in the hospital and our precious P
heads up for a visit today to perk him up!

We are going to be without our P for a week!
I don't know what to do with myself.
Of course I have a million+ ideas and will get very few done.

LUSH copycat bath bombs - where to get scent recipes for all your favorite perfumes and LUSH scents.
But my main plan is just to catch up
and take a leisurely bath
with the last 2 months Southern Living I have opened yet.

I'm too scattered to think of much else.

Cheers,
RW
